Olympic Legend Colin Jackson Launches the Sony Smart B-Trainer, Helping You Reach Your A Game

Press release   •   Jul 24, 2015 10:10 BST

Olympic medallist Colin Jackson has partnered with Sony to launch the new Smart B-Trainer (SSE-BTR1), a new ‘Smart Sport Gear’ wearable product. The innovative Walkman is designed for runners that use music to help them train, adjusting the tracks as they listen and run based on their heartrate. The combination of sport and audio technologies make for the ideal sports gadget for the modern runner.

Colin, was on hand in Regent’s Park to put people through their paces, taking them through the type of exercises he does on a daily basis, whilst emphasising the benefits of the Smart B-Trainer.

Speaking at the event, Colin said, ‘The Sony Smart B-Trainer is a brilliant new product, suitable for runners of all levels. Its ability to assist with your running goals, from the planning stage through to reviewing your progress, make it a helpful companion for a runner. The automatic music selection fits the tempo of your run, which I think is a great feature and I’m excited to incorporate it into my training’.

Free to run

With its waterproof, non-slip, wireless neckband-style design, the Smart B-Trainer seamlessly wraps over your ears providing a secure, snug fit. And at just 43 grams it allows you to focus on the challenge ahead while you listen to your favourite fitness tunes without any interruptions. The integrated 16GB storage space provides enough space for approximately 3,900 songs[1].

From companion to coach

The Sony Smart B-trainer incorporates 6 sensors[2] that record 11 types of running logs – heart rate, burned calories, distance, time, speed, pace, cadence, steps, stride, running route and elevation. Thanks to the detailed data analysis and previously defined work-out goals, the Sony Smart B-Trainer will recognise and advise you on to slow down or speed up, thus maximising your workout efficiency.

Take control of your fitness

Controlling the Smart B-Trainer has never been easier, thanks to the Smart B-Trainer™ for Running App[3] that connects wirelessly to the Bluetooth® enabled SSE-BTR1. Once your account is set up, you can transfer the recorded running log from the trainer to the app to view the results and easily look back on your track record through graphs and comparisons with past accumulated records, best records, and trends.

The Smart B-Trainer™ will be available in blue, black, white, pink and yellow from July.
